Cotton, kind of an interesting topic that came to my mind this morning. With the weather getting progressively hotter with the summer months in full swing, for me cotton is the fabric of choice.
Thinking about something as simple as cotton made me think about how different fabrics can also represent people at different times in their lives.
Think about it, denim...a bit tougher, thicker. Then we have silk... smooth, easy to the touch. Let's not leave wool out of the equation, can be a bit itchy and irritating. Leather...protective, warm, durable. Thinking through all of the different fabrics, brought me back to cotton. For most, I would say is the fabric of consistent choice. Let's face it cotton is comfortable and practical.
So where am I going with this? Our life circumstances, too often results in the fabric that we wear through different season in our lives. We are typically most comfortable in cotton, however we just may have to put on a different fabric for a particular situation. It's what is needed at the time.
Seasons come and seasons go. Rest assured the one thing that remains the same through it all is God. So even though our fabrics may change, God never does. The next time you put on your favorite tshirt and possibly some jogging pants, remember...true comfort comes when we let go and let God!
